Cycloplegics are medications used to cause temporary Paralysis of the ciliary muscle in the eye to achieve full pupil dilation (mydriasis). They are used in veterinary ophthalmology to allow for a thorough examination of the fundus in dogs and cats. Cycloplegics can also help relieve Pain associated with certain eye conditions by preventing movement of the ciliary muscle.
